When Should You Take Maternity Photos?
Although the prime time for maternity photos to be taken is in your 8th month of pregnancy, some expecting moms opt to capture maternity photos sooner than or later than month 8. It is a personal preference. Keep reading to learn more about my suggestions for the best maternity photoshoot.
When Should Maternity Photos Be Taken?
As a maternity photographer in Colorado Springs, I get to capture so many beautiful baby bumps. Isn’t is such an exciting time. The anticipation to meeting that sweet baby and wondering who they will look like. What color eyes will they have, what color hair? You can’t wait to meet that beautiful miracle hiring a maternity photographer to capture these beautiful memories if well worth it. But, I frequently get the question, “When Should I Take Maternity Photos?” Maternity photos are typically taken between 32 and 36 weeks of pregnancy. At this point the baby bump is prominent and beautifully round. But, it is early enough that you aren’t super uncomfortable. Key word…”super”, anyone who is not ‘uncomfortable’ in their third trimester is a saint. If you are traveling to Colorado Springs and will be here before you are 32 weeks pregnant, still reach out! It is not too early. I have captured maternity photos as early as 22 weeks.
Maternity Photos for First Time Moms or Experienced Moms
If this is your first baby or your eighth baby, maternity photos are magical. There is nothing better than capturing the memories of this sweet child that isn’t earth-side, yet. You get to capture the cliche, but true, gorgeous and glowing look that you give off. Maternity photos are a great add on photoshoot to your newborn photos. I offer multi session bundles and would love to chat with you about scheduling a maternity and newborn photography session.
Colorado Springs Maternity Photos
The best part about having the beautiful backdrop of Colorado Springs for your maternity photos is the gorgeous scenery year round. Whether it is summer or dead of winter, you will get some magical maternity moments captured. Like this maternity session. Dead of Winter, below freezing out, snow packed forest. We came out with some magical maternity photos captured for this beautiful first time mom.
Ready to capture your beautiful baby bump?
A photography session should not only produce beautiful images, but it should also be an enjoyable stress free experience. Online Booking, joyful sessions, optional short films, and digital downloads make everything simple and fun!
fleeting moments captured in real time
These moments pass by far too quickly and we quickly forget them. Freeze time by adding a short film on to your newborn session and relive these precious memories through a documentary film for years to come.
I love working with families who want to capture life as it is now. Because in the blink of an eye, “someday” becomes a year from now. Throughout the tiresome days, tiny but meaningful moments are happening within your family that you won’t want to miss out on capturing. Things you don’t know you’re missing are the things you’ll always want to remember. The kiddos grow so much year to year and it is important to capture them in this season of life, whatever season that might be.
RELAXED AND NATURAL POSING
“My husband and I are awkward, will you tell us what to do?” Of course! I don’t like to do unnatural or super posed shots, but I will give you some light direction on how to stand or position yourselves so there are no awkward photos. I’ll encourage kids to relax, play and snuggle up with mom and dad. Tickle fights, silly words, or big bear hugs happen on the regular to capture the most authentic and genuine smiles. Don’t worry I’ll let you know if you’re doing something funny with your hands, or have a goofy face. I’m here to capture joy while making sure you look good!
As a family photographer and a mom of 4 kids, I am drawn to those candid moments, but I understand that most clients want classic, look at the camera and smile shots, too. We will do a mixture of both styles, with various backgrounds so you have a variety of images to choose from in your final gallery. I know my favorites won’t always be your favorites. If you prefer more candid than posed, or vice versa, just let me know either at booking or at the start of your session and I’ll make sure I capture photos you will love and cherish.
Hi, I’m Stephanie, your Colorado Springs family photographer
I’m so glad you’re here! I am a family photographer with over 10 years of experience specializing in family, maternity, birth, newborn photography and short films.
We probably have a lot in common. I am an Air Force wife and mother to 4 children(and 2 dogs). Most days feel long, but I know the years are short. I am just trying to slow down time and create joyful memories with my family. My mornings usually start with a kid or two waking me up. I start each morning with a cup of coffee. I think the outcome of my day solely depends on if I am able to finish my cup before it gets cold.
