Taking newborn photos at home can be a special and convenient way to document the first few weeks of your baby’s life. These types of photos can also be a great way to capture the excitement and joy of your family as you welcome the new addition. Here are a few things that as a mom of 4, and a Colorado Springs newborn photographer I always try to capture at your in-home newborn photography session.

Tips and Tricks
- Choosing the right time of day: As a newborn photographer I try to schedule your photo session for the time of day when your baby is most alert and happy. But, when they are newborns they tend to be pretty complacent all times of the day.
- Finding the right location: I Look for a spot in your home with plenty of natural light and. A nursery or a bedroom with a large window are always the top rooms used.
- Use meaningful accessories: I love if you bring in some special items, such as a favorite blanket or stuffed animal, to add personality to the photos.
- Get close-ups: Newborns are small and delicate, I make sure to get close-up shots of their tiny features, including their hands, feet, and face.

Tips Continued
Capture family photos: Don’t forget to include photos of the entire family, including siblings and parents, with the new baby. These types of photos can be especially meaningful as they document the love and excitement of welcoming a new member to the family. I also love including family pets!
I experiment with angles: I try shooting from different angles, such as from above or at the baby’s level, to capture unique and creative shots.

Hi, I’m Stephanie, your Colorado Springs newborn photographer
I’m so glad you’re here! I am a family photographer with over 10 years of experience specializing in family, maternity, birth, newborn photography and short films.
We probably have a lot in common. I am an Air Force wife and mother to 4 children(and 2 dogs). Most days feel long, but I know the years are short. I am just trying to slow down time and create joyful memories with my family. My mornings usually start with a kid or two waking me up. I start each morning with a cup of coffee. I think the outcome of my day solely depends on if I am able to finish my cup before it gets cold.
