All Natural Birth – Littleton Adventist
Denver Birth Photographer
It was a beautiful fall morning, Wednesday, September 28th. After hearing from her husband that Katie’s contractions were picking up, and that she was 5cm at the last check, I headed to the hospital. It was a gorgeous drive, and the Little Adventist has beautiful scenery surrounding the hospital. The fall colors were blooming, and their were beautiful flowers lining the walk to the entrance. I knew it was going to be a great day, and I couldn’t wait to document Nick and Katie welcoming their son.
Katie was laboring in her room, but upon entrance was still in good spirits (despite already having contractions for several hours). The first thing I noticed was a board they had put together to help support Katie in her natural labor journey. Many friends and family wrote them encouraging notes. There was so much love coming from just that simple chalkboard. As Katie read through the support messages on her board, she told me it was her husband, Nicks idea. From that moment forward I knew Nick was going to be a great support during this labor, and an even more amazing father.
With every contraction they were one. Nick held Katie and encouraged his beautiful wife as her contractions continued to come more frequently and stronger then ever. I watched and documented in awe of her strength, but also in admiration of her husband.
Soon enough, it was time to welcome their little boy, Katie powered through despite being exhausted, and welcomed their beautiful little boy, Aiden. As he came into this world, the whole room let out a big sigh of relief. Katie and Nicks little boy not only was welcomed by his loving parents, but he also had both grandmothers there that couldn’t wait to lay eyes on him.
With Nick’s dark brown hair, we were all surprised by the baby’s beautiful strawberry blonde hair. After letting out his first few cries, and getting a feel for this new environment, he was so alert. He couldn’t take his eyes off of mama. It was his way of telling her, “We did it!” Congratulations Katie and Nick, the birth of your son was beautiful. You two are going to be the best parents!
