Ft Carson Military Homecoming Session

As a military wife myself, I know first hand what military spouses go through, especially while our loved ones are deployed. It is no easy task, and it takes a special person to be a military spouse. I remember the day my husband was deploying like it was yesterday. It was the strangest feeling saying goodbye, having the kids give him a hug and a kiss, knowing that we wouldn’t see him for 7 whole months. He would miss his daughters second birthday, halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, my Birthday, his sons fourth Birthday. It seemed like he would miss it all. Luckily, as a photographer I was able to keep him updated with good photos so he could see just how big the kids were getting. Also, with FaceTime he could participate in some activities, although with the time change, it made it very difficult. The other day I will never forget is the day my husband was returning. It’s funny, leading up to that day I thought it would never come and I cried who knows how many times when I thought about how much longer we had until that day was here. Then, just like that, his arrival was here, and I felt ike it flew by. The best thing I ever did was hire my photographer to capture his return. I will now never forget how I felt in that moment, and the huge smile my son had on his face when he ran to his Dad, or when my daughter who was barely two when he left saw him and couldn’t believe it was actually him. My photographer, Sheryl Finney Photography, captured it all. The photos she took are some of my favorites! They are in a leather backed album in our living room and I basically make everyone who comes over look at them. haha

Enough about me, homecomings are so emotional and I absolutely love capturing the moment my clients get to wrap their arms around their loved one for the first time in months, there is no sweeter moment. Last nights homecoming was no different, so much love, tears of joy and overall excitement. I am so happy for this sweet couple. <3

How much are military homecoming shoots?

Hi Marilee, Sorry for the delayed response, I am just seeing this. Unfortunately, I don’t typically shoot Military Homecomings anymore. In a rare chance I sometimes take them on, depending on the timing of the return. Feel free to contact me through my contact page and we can chat more.
