Colorado Springs Family Photographer

I am an experienced Colorado Springs family photographer who captures beautiful memories that last a lifetime. I like to think I have a unique approach to photography. By using my creative eye to bring out the beauty in each moment and each family I photograph. My dedication to capturing every detail brings out the essence of each individual image so that you can relive your family’s memories for many years to come. I offer high-quality images, an excellent experience, and commitment to your family during our time together.

Planning Your Colorado Springs Family Photo Session

Planning the perfect photo shoot for your family can be a daunting task! One of the most important decisions to make is when to schedule your family photo session. Not to mention, where to do your family photos. Thankfully I can help you with all of that. Spoiler Alert- Summer and Fall in Colorado are the most popular times for Family photos. Those months tend to book up quickly, so it is never too early to schedule your family session. The right date will depend on the season you want to capture in your photos and any special events you would like commemorated in the photos. I also have a detailed location guide with multiple samples from each location to help narrow down your ideas on where to take family photos in Colorado Springs.

What to Bring to Your Photo Session

As a Colorado Springs family photographer, I recommend wearing colors that are true to yourself. If you don’t typically wear a lot of bold colors, family photos probably aren’t the time to start. Picking outfits that will be excited to see hung on the walls of your home. Avoid neon colors and anything too bright. Also, I always like to tell families to coordinate their outfits, not match. So rather than dressing your girls in all the same dress, try and find dresses that coordinate colors. Something as simple as changing outfits could create different moods for each setting in the shoot. Accessories such as hats, jewelry, and scarves can add details that make each photo one of a kind. As a lifestyle photographer, I don’t typically use props, but I am happy to include something in your photo session that is meaningful to you.

Prepping Kids for a Photo Session

As a Colorado Springs family photographer, and more importantly a mom of four young kids, I understand how difficult it can be to capture young children in the perfect moment, with the perfect smile. There are various ways to get kids prepped for their session and keep them engaged and smiling. Before the photoshoot session, talk to the children about what their session will consist of and what to expect when they arrive. Let them know that you are about to meet Stephanie and she will soon become your best friend. She likes to have fun with kiddos to let them warm up and relax. I always encourage parents to just let their kids have fun. I promise we will capture great photos without too much pressure on kids looking at the camera and smiling at the perfect time.

Get the Best Family Photos

First, plan ahead and discuss ideas with your family and photographer before the shoot. With a collaborative approach between your photographer and family members, you can ensure that everyone is comfortable and ready for the photoshoot. Additionally, come prepared to have fun! I don’t need grumpy families in front my camera. I want to capture you in your best light, while loving on your family.

Make the Most of Your Memories

At the end of the day, I want to help you make sure that all of your beautiful memories are cherished for years to come. As a Colorado Springs family photographer, I try and capture every detail of your special moments. I’m also committed to helping you find ways to properly store and display them. From designing meaningful albums of professionally printed photos and creating framed wall art that will match any décor.

Hi, I’m Stephanie, your Colorado Springs family photographer

I’m so glad you’re here! I am a family photographer with over 10 years of experience specializing in family, maternity, birth, newborn photography and short films.

We probably have a lot in common. I am an Air Force wife and mother to 4 children(and 2 dogs). Most days feel long, but I know the years are short. I am just trying to slow down time and create joyful memories with my family. My mornings usually start with a kid or two waking me up. I start each morning with a cup of coffee. I think the outcome of my day solely depends on if I am able to finish my cup before it gets cold.

let’s work together

capture life as it is now

I love working with families who want to capture life as it is now. Because in the blink of an eye, “someday” becomes a year from now. Throughout the tiresome days, tiny but meaningful moments are happening within your family that you won’t want to miss out on capturing. Things you don’t know you’re missing are the things you’ll always want to remember. The kiddos grow so much year to year and it is important to capture them in this season of life, whatever season that might be.

“My husband and I are awkward, will you tell us what to do?” Of course! I don’t like to do unnatural or super posed shots, but I will give you some light direction on how to stand or position yourselves so there are no awkward photos. I’ll encourage kids to relax, play and snuggle up with mom and dad. Tickle fights, silly words, or big bear hugs happen on the regular to capture the most authentic and genuine smiles. Don’t worry I’ll let you know if you’re doing something funny with your hands, or have a goofy face. I’m here to capture joy while making sure you look good!

Family Photgraphy

As a family photographer and a mom of 4 kids, I am drawn to those candid moments, but I understand that most clients want classic, look at the camera and smile shots, too. We will do a mixture of both styles, with various backgrounds so you have a variety of images to choose from in your final gallery. I know my favorites won’t always be your favorites. If you prefer more candid than posed, or vice versa, just let me know either at booking or at the start of your session and I’ll make sure I capture photos you will love and cherish.
