Five Reasons why you should Hire a Birth Photographer
Your baby’s birth is one of the most momentous occasions in your life; the question should be, why wouldn’t you hire a birth photographer?
Most people say the happiest day of their life is their wedding day. A close second is the birth of their firstborn child…or second, third or fourth. Most everyone hires a wedding photographer to capture the moments that you don’t want to forget, so why wouldn’t you hire a birth photographer to capture the moments that you won’t want to forget on the day your child is born. Whether you are welcoming your first child, or your fourth, nothing can compare to the moment you meet your baby for the first time. The moment your life changes forever. But, to those of you that still need some convincing…here are 5 good reasons why you should hire me as your birth photographer.
1.) For your husband’s sake. You will relieve your husband/partner from having to reach for the camera and stumble to try and get good shots. Birth is typically an emotional roller coaster, not only for you, but for him too! He shouldn’t have to worry about trying to handle a camera while wiping his tears as soon as his little girl or boy is born. Instead of having him hold a camera, have him hold your hand. Let me capture the moments so he can be in the photos too.
2.) You forget. You really do. I don’t remember much from my children being born. Between being exhausted, the awful contractions, the actual delivery, and the overwhelming excitement and joy just after they arrive, my memory is clouded. Things are a blur. Most of my clients tell me how thankful they are for hiring me because most of the day was a blur. They are so thankful I was there to capture the moment they discovered it was a boy or girl, or when they told their parents his name! You will not regret having these photos to look back on.
3.) Quality. Lets face it, hospital lighting is not ideal. And most of the time you are trying to capture those first moments with a smart phone camera at best. As a birth photographer, I will be able to get images that are not out of focus, or blurry. Even in the most awful lighting situations, you will get quality, crisp photos to document your day.
4.) Babies change so quickly. Anytime I do a birth session and follow up with a newborn session a week later I rarely recognize their baby. Even after just a day they already look so different. Don’t let the memory of how they looked when they were first born fade.
5.) I am there to capture the whole story. Everything from grandma and siblings waiting in the waiting room, your husband holding your hand during the peak of your contraction, the heart rate monitor displaying a steady heart rate of your sweet baby up until they are born, your baby’s weight when they are first born, their length, their first footprints, but most importantly the first time you are holding your baby and counting all of their fingers and toes.
